Japanese Black Pine Bonsai tree help?
I have a Japanese Black Pine bonsai tree, it came as a kit to plant it myself. The directions said to plant the seed in the soil and cover it in plastic wrap until it sprouts. It has yet to sprout and it’s been about two weeks since I planted it. Is there something wrong with it? How long should it take to sprout?
Of course.See …

Bonsai as a horticultural and artistic hobby is starting to become one of the most popular alternative leisure activities for plant lovers. If you want to know how to grow a bonsai tree, you must first know its definition, basic information about these plants and the different techniques of growing them. This hobby is an enjoyable one and you can learn about many techniques that you can apply in other fields as well.
Bonsai has been ridden with a lot of myths. Many people think that bonsai is a form of cruelty to innocent plants by stunting their growth and is kept small by cruel means. However, these myths are false and budding enthusiasts should know that these miniature trees need a lot of care and attention and when handled properly, can even outlive some of their larger counterparts.
The techniques in growing a bonsai are not cruel in any way. Like most horticultural activities, this hobby is dedicated to treating the plants in the gentlest and best ways possible in order to bring out the best in them. The beauty that these small plants provide to the environment is even associated with Zen Buddhism because of the intertwining of man, nature and other elements.
Bonsai is produced by planting seeds and growing them into young trees or naturally stunted plants which are transplanted into pots or containers. Ideally, the plants that must be used are members of the persistent and lasting woody-stemmed trees. Several shrub species that are resilient and easy to contain in a pot can also be used.
Cultivation of bonsai trees is different since the grower can choose what type of plan that he or she wants to train into a miniature form. Growth from seeds, though sometimes used, is not the most popular form of cultivation. The hobbyist can choose the plant for aesthetic reasons or for resilience in the local climate or for its relatively lower cost.
It is important to note that the choosing the pot where you plan to put your plants to is crucial for its cultivation. This hobby is known for making the plant complement the figure, shade and texture of its container. When planting bonsai in a pot, your goal is to transform both into a single, pleasant unit that looks great together.
Most of these plants range from two inches to three feet long. They are kept small by regularly pruning the roots and branches, by periodic transferring of pots, by wiring the trunk and branches and by trimming off new growth. These techniques must be religiously followed in order to get the ideal design and look that the bonsai was planned to get.
Plant propagation techniques are varied. Any form is effective for generating bonsai but there are a few favored ones which are quick and easy to produce a well-aging trunk with well-placed leaves ad branches. These propagation techniques include, but are not limited to cuttings and layering. You can choose either or both these two techniques in order to see fast results.
